Why do I have black lines on my copies?      Back to Contents List

If copying from the document feeder this is probably due to marks on the 'slit glass' (thin strip of glass to the side of main glass). To confirm this try copying something from the main glass, if the lines disappear then there will be marks on the slit glass. Clean with a moist cloth.

Why can I not shut the document feeder?         Back to Contents List

This is usually because the 'exit door' is open (underneath the tray on which you rest your originals). This must be closed (raise vertically) first, before the top two covers can be closed.

Most Panasonic copiers have two on/off switches. Check at the back where the mains lead plugs in.

How do I set up my photocopier on the network ?      Back to Contents List

In most cases the machines are set up without DHCP turned on and therefore an ip address will need to be assigned and entered into the copier. Dependant on the model the exact description of which button to press may differ but the following general principles apply.

To set DHCP on, and or to enter an ip address: Press FUNCTION - GENERAL SETTINGS - KEY OPERATOR and enter the key operator password (If unknown - contact your service provider)

Having changed DHCP setting or entered new ip address (and subnet mask and gateway) the machine will need to be switched off and on again to reboot with new settings (NB if hard drive fitted leave switched off for 10 seconds before switching on again to prevent 'Scandisk' operation)

Where can I find a driver for my photocopier ?      Back to Contents List

The majority of drivers for Panasonic copiers are available at: http://panasonic.net/pcc/support/mfp/

Please ensure you choose the correct version. In most cases this will be the GDI driver. The PCL driver for most black and white copiers is an optional extra requiring different firmware and a hardware 'key' installed

Why doesn't my photocopier print?      Back to Contents List

Are you trying to set up the copier for printing for the first time - if so:

  • Do you have 'Department codes' set up on your copier - if so they may need inputting in the driver settings. In the case of DPC range (colour machines) you can download the latest driver which you can set up to prompt for the Dept code at time of printing (for DPC262 or DPC322 use DPC263 driver).

  • Do you have the correct driver for your machine (most machines do not come with PCL option installed - use the GDI driver)?

  • Have you configured the printer port for LPR Printing? (see Basic Network Setup)

  • Also check How do I set my copier up on the Network?

Has the copier worked as a printer in the past - if so:

  • Try switching your copier off/on at the mains to reboot completely.

  • Check on the server to see if the RPT port needs reactivating.

  • Check that their is a network connection to the copier (green light on where network cable plugs in).

How can I stop a print job once I have sent it to the photocopier?      Back to Contents List

You will need to remove the job from the print queue as follows:

  • Press 'PRINT' button (Bottom left hand side of control panel)

  • Press 'JOB CONTROL' (or 'JOB QUEUE' dependent on model)

  • Press 'JOB QUEUE'

  • Press 'PRINT'  (or 'PRINT JOB QUEUE' dependent on model)

  • Password is 4 zeros '0000'

  • Select relevant job and press 'DELETE'

NB. If the print job has already started the quickest way to stop it is to open all the paper drawers.

However this may cause a paper jam if the machine has just started to pick up a sheet.

How do I set up my photocopier for scanning ?      Back to Contents List

(NB Depending on your model - this may require optional accessories to be installed in your copier)

To scan to a PC you will need to have the copier set up on the network first (See: How do I set up my photocopier on the network?)

Then install the Communications Utility software on to each PC that you will be scanning to. This should be on the Panasonic Document Management System CD that comes with your new copier. Alternatively download from http://panasonic.net/pcc/support/mfp/. The only program you require is the Communications Utility, however the Quick Image Navigator software may be of benefit if you wish to manage a lot of scanned documents.

At the end of the installation wizard you will be asked if you wish to reboot your PC (because by default the program lists the Communications Utility in your startup programs). However instead you can start this manually by clicking on "Start", "All programs", "Startup", "Panasonic Communications Utility". A small blue icon (Panasonic Communications Utility) will appear in the bottom right hand corner of your screen. Right click on this icon and select Scanner Configuration. In the top half you can decide which program to open when the scanned image is received and, and in the bottom half what name to appear in the address book on the copier (we would also recommend you set the Address Renewal Interval to 10min).

NB. In order to scan from the copier the Panasonic Communication Utility needs to be running on the computer(s) you want to scan to. It is the computer that controls where the images are stored (eg a shared folder on the server) and adds itself to the address book on the copier. Therefore if you wish to run this on a server you will need to have the server logged on all the time as well as switched on.

However you may use a PC to act as the go-between to store the scanned images directly to a shared folder on the server. First create or choose a shared folder on server. Then on the PC right-click on 'communications utility', 'scanner configuration' - select 'Launch Application' as 'Windows Explorer' and 'Save To'  - browse to and select the shared folder. (Of course this PC will need to be logged on whenever scanning is required)

How do I set up my photocopier for email ?      Back to Contents List

(NB Depending on your model - this may require optional accessories to be installed in your copier)

To scan to email you will need to have the copier set up on the network first (See: How do I set up my photocopier on the network?)

Dependant on model the exact description of which button to press may differ but the following general principles apply.

Under 'Function', 'General Settings', 'Key Operator' set up basic network information (ip address etc) and also set DNS to 'off' or 'no'.

Under 'Function', 'Email settings', 'Key Operator' input a valid email address for the copier (eg copier@ahealey.co.uk) and the ip address (eg 192.0.0.1) of the SMTP server (Exchange server).

NB switch copier off/on to reboot with new settings.

Under 'Function', 'Scan/Email (or Fax/Email) Settings', 'Address book',  'Add new email address' enter details of email addresses you wish to appear in the copiers address book.

Why do I not see an entry to scan to in the copier display ?       Back to Contents List

The Panasonic Communications Utility on the computer sends a message around the network asking for it to be added to the address book of the copier. Therefore if this is not running it will not be in the copiers address book.

The Communications Utility should appear as a blue square icon on the bottom right hand corner of the computer (ie next to the clock). If it is not there then you can restart it by going into 'Start', 'All Programs', 'Panasonic' etc. Alternatively turn your computer off/on and it should start automatically as part of your 'start' programs.

To change any settings for the Communications Utility - right click on the blue icon and choose 'scanner configuration'

Please bear in mind that the Communications Utility is a program and so will stop if you log off of the computer. Therefore it is inadvisable to use the server to run the Communications Utility.
