Why do I have black (or white) lines on my copies?
Back to Contents ListIf copying from the document feeder this is probably due to marks on the 'slit glass' (thin strip of glass to the side of main glass).
To confirm this try copying something from the main glass, if the lines disappear then there will be marks on the slit glass.
(Clean with a moist cloth)
Most Sharp copiers have two on/off switches.
Check inside the front door or at the back where the mains lead plugs in

You will need to remove the job from the print queue on the copier as follows:
Press 'JOB STATUS' - this will show current jobs in the queue (copy and print jobs)
Highlight the job you wish to cancel
Press 'STOP/DELETE' and confirm
Please be aware that this will only remove the job from the queue on the copier.
You may need to remove from the print queue on the server or your computer otherwise it will continue to send.
NB. If the print job has already started the quickest way to stop is to open all the paper drawers.
However this may cause a paper jam if the machine has already started to pick up the next sheet!!
Are you trying to set the photocopier for the first time - if so:
Do you have user codes set up on the photocopier - if so this needs to be put in the driver under 'JOB HANDLING'?
NB Colour machines will print in black/white without a code as default from factory but not colour (see SHARPPrintsetup.pdf
Do you have the correct driver for your machine? (Use PCL)
Have you configured the port for LPR printing? (see SHARPPrintsetup.pdf
Has the printing worked in the past - if so:
Try switching the photocopier off/on at the mains to reboot completely (ie including network card)
Check on computer (or server) to see if any jobs stuck in queue - and cancel
Confirm the copier still has a network connection (network cable plugs in about half way up on right-hand side - check lights on)
If you have User codes activated on your copier - check that this is still in your driver or that your limits have not been reached (see SHARPPrintsetup.pdf
Check the Printer PORT settings - SNMP should NOT be enabled
PROCEDURE (NB If printing via a shared printer this will need to be changed on the server)
Click on: 'Start' - 'Printers & Faxes'
Right click on your Printer (copier) and select 'Properties'
Click on 'Port' tab along top - click on 'Configure Port'
(NB if greyed out you are printing via a shared printer or do not have sufficient privileges)
Make sure 'SNMP status enabled' box is unticked and Apply any changes
(see SHARPPrintsetup.pdf SECTION 2)
If the machine does not have paper matching what has been requested by the print command it will show out of paper
This may be because it does not match the paper size or paper type
Check the Page Set of the document you are trying to print and change if necessary (eg may be non-standard size)
Alternatively you can force the machine to print from a specific tray by going to the Job queue on the copier - selecting the job from the list - select 'detail' - select 'Paper Select' and then choose which paper tray to print from
NB See Handy Guide to Printing (Paper & Media Options) for selecting paper in Print Driver
