NETWORK PRINTING FROM

PANASONIC COPIER

To set up network printing on Panasonic DPxxxx copiers

Set up TCP/IP address on copier as follows:

Setting up on COPIER

            Press:             ‘FUNCTION’

                                    ‘GENERAL SETTINGS’

                                    ‘KEY OPERATOR’

Input the key operator code (if unknown - contact your service provider)

            Scroll down to ‘IP ADDRESS’

Enter full ip address (ie include extra zeros), enter subnet mask and gateway

Reboot copier for changes to take effect

(NB DHCP is usually turned off – if you wish to use DHCP to pick up an ip address - first change DHCP setting (also under KEY OPERATOR settings as above). Reboot copier to allow changes to take effect. We would recommend then reserving this address on server, turning DHCP off on copier and entering the settings as above)

Setting up on Server and/or PC

Load print driver from PDMS CD using wizard (or download from website)

(NB for black/white copiers choose the  GDI driver unless  PCL or Postscript options are installed in machine)

Printer port set up: (this will have been done automatically if using the wizard on CD)

Add a new tcp/ip port with allocated ip address and configure for LPR Printing:

(Select Port and configure for LPR protocol, give a queue name (eg ‘copier’) and tick LPR byte counting Enabled)

Printer properties Set up

Device Options

Use ‘auto configuration’ to set up with finisher and paper tray settings and ‘Apply’

If Department Codes are installed on copier

‘Advanced’, ‘Printing Defaults’ , ‘Secure’ or ‘Job Type’ (and also under ‘General’, ‘Printing Preferences’). Choose ‘Dept Counter’ and enter a valid passcode (this will need to be entered on each PC on the network)

(For some models the latest drivers can be set up to prompt for the department code when printing - in ‘Job Type’ tick the box ‘input when printing’)

(NB for colour copiers we would recommend setting up two printers – one defaulted to black/white - as print jobs sent as ‘colour’ will put the copier into colour mode and register on the colour meter – even if only black toner used. (Change in ‘Advanced’, ‘Printing Defaults’, ‘Quality’ ‘Colour Mode’, ‘Greyscale’)
